How do you look after your hair extensions?

Daily Hair Care Routine

To maintain the health and longevity of your hair, follow these simple guidelines:

  1. Avoid Heavy Moisturizers & Protein-Heavy Products
Steer clear of shampoos and conditioners that are overly moisturizing or high in protein, as these can weigh down your hair or damage the bonds.

  2. Wash Your Hair Correctly
Always wash your hair in the shower, not upside down or in the bath, to avoid unnecessary stress on your hair.

  3. Be Gentle with Your Bonds
When washing your hair, avoid scrubbing your bonds too vigorously or in circular motions, as this can cause tangling or damage.

  4. Double Rinse
Rinse your hair for at least twice as long as usual to ensure all shampoo and conditioner are thoroughly washed out.

  5. Sleep on a Silk Pillowcase
Invest in a silk pillowcase to reduce friction and prevent hair breakage while you sleep.

  6. Secure Hair While Sleeping
Tie your hair in a loose low ponytail or braid before bed to minimize tangling and matting overnight.

Drying & Brushing Your Extensions

Proper care when drying and brushing your extensions is essential to maintain their integrity and appearance. Follow these steps for best results:

  1. Towel Dry Gently
After washing, gently squeeze the water out of your hair with a towel—avoid rubbing, as this can cause damage.

  2. Use a Tangle Teezer
Never comb your hair or bonds with a regular comb. Instead, use a Tangle Teezer or a similar detangling brush to avoid pulling or tugging.

  3. Start Brushing from the Bottom
Always brush your hair starting from the ends, working your way up to the roots. Use both hands for better control and to prevent breakage.

  4. Brush Regularly
Make sure to brush your hair daily to keep it tangle-free and prevent matting, especially at the bonds.

  5. Gentle Salon Care
If you're visiting a salon, remind your stylist to wash your hair gently, working downwards over the bonds. They should follow the same gentle techniques you would use at home.

  6. Heat Styling is Safe
You can use heat styling tools on your extensions, but be sure to use a heat protectant. This will help your extensions hold their style longer and maintain their quality.

Hair Care While on Holiday

Taking a little extra care of your extensions while on vacation can ensure they stay looking great. Follow these tips for hassle-free holiday hair:

  1. Tie Your Hair Back for Swimming
While swimming in the sea or pool, keep your hair secured in a low plait or ponytail to prevent tangling and damage from saltwater or chlorine.

  2. Rinse After Swimming
As soon as you’re out of the water, rinse your hair thoroughly with fresh water to remove any salt or chlorine. This helps prevent dryness and build-up.

  3. Stick to Your Brushing Routine
Maintain a regular brushing routine, especially during your holiday, to prevent your extensions from matting in the sun or after swimming.
